I must note, I am a follower of this talented author for years now and have read and loved Tony Paul’s dark Vampire writings. With the 2014 Release of Abstinthe, Tony Paul changed his genre a bit, choosing to dabble in occult and wrote a spell binding story that I have raved about to whomever would listen.. It also did wander into M/M as well.For this years end Mr. de Vissage has released a Trilogy with the genre being an M/M Romance. You should not read this series out of order. Publishers now seem to be having authors break stories into segments. Don’t they think a reader would be interested in reading a 500-600 page book? And pay 15.00 for it????? I do all the time. This is that kind of Trilogy, it begins where the last page ends, but I must say the names of each book or segment is outstanding in its meaning to the story.
We follow the life of a young man Kim Crosley the entire story written in his POV. Kim is the oldest son, a bit of an introvert and a disappointment for his Dad for not playing in sports. His brother helps shield him a bit, with his own sports aptitude. Kim’s goal is to become a history teacher. His life goes awry when his Uncle, his father’s own brother rapes him and tells his Dad that Kim came on to him. Kim is thrown out of his home with a few clothes and meager monies.
Kim is picked up by Angel, the local pimp and now for 6 years Kim is a ‘rent boy’ stationed on his corner to ‘service’ the men who come looking for boys to give them satisfaction. He shares a room at a dump of a Hotel paid for by his pimp. Things would not have changed if Kim had not been curious about the fancy car that started to come nightly picking up one of the boys and carrying them off. He couldn’t wait to see if he would get picked, so he took matters into his own hands and held on to the boot of the shiny Chrysler Touring car and was taken to the mansion of the owner.
Christopher “Kit” Laurence discovers a rent boy in his room, going through his jewelry. He is a retired soccer champ, having an injury that ended his career. He has been living as a recluse for some time and was getting these boys for company just to talk to. Kim enchants him somehow with his quick mouth and beautiful face.
This is their story. We see Kit shielding his feelings. We want to know more about him and throughout the three books the author slowly peels back the layers of hurt and wounds of both of these characters and brings pain and sadness humor and beauty to this wonderful story. Devlin the chauffer/ body guard is a wonderful side character as well as some of the other surrounding cast.
I cannot in all honesty write a review for this Trilogy as three books as I feel this is one good epic story. It is a winner 5*****Stars
